Why every milestone matters

According to Harvard University’s Center on the Developing Child, 90% of a child’s brain develops before their fifth birthday. Every crawl, giggle, climb, and gentle touch helps lay the foundation for lifelong learning and growth.

At Curro Preschools, childhood is valued as life itself. ‘Our I Am Growing – Let Me Play philosophy celebrates this truth, recognising that children need thousands of hours of active, whole-body play before they are ready to sit and focus for formal learning,’ explains Janet Beyrooti, Preschool Project Manager at Curro.

Nurturing environments

Curro Preschools provide quality early childhood development for children up to five years old. Depending on the campus, some schools welcome children from as young as three months, while others accommodate Grade R learners in the same building. Indoor and outdoor classrooms are designed to spark curiosity and encourage active exploration. Playgrounds support physical development through climbing, balancing, and movement. With small, age-specific class sizes, teachers are able to spend meaningful time with each child and guide their growth with care.

From infancy to independence

Every stage of early childhood is supported. Babies between three and 12 months receive gentle interaction and nurturing care that promote brain growth and connection. Toddlers aged 12 to 24 months explore movement through crawling, climbing, and first steps that build coordination and confidence. For children aged two to three years, purposeful play develops social, emotional, and physical skills. Between three and four years, outdoor activities and movement help children build strong bodies that prepare them to focus during classroom learning. From four to five years, the programme builds independence and confidence, ensuring children are ready for primary school in both learning and life skills.

Supporting whole-child development

Curro’s Early Learning and Development Areas (ELDAs) programme helps children grow physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively through guided play and activities. Staff focus on more than supervision, nurturing each milestone and encouraging curiosity and resilience.

Research consistently shows that investment in the first five years gives children the best start in life. ‘From first smiles to first school days, we recognise that every cuddle, every challenge, and every moment of discovery shapes your child’s future learning and supports a seamless transition into the Foundation Phase,’ concludes Janet.
