Curro Vanderbijlpark celebrates performing arts success at SACOPA

Curro Vanderbijlpark Primary School showcased exceptional talent at the South African Championships of Performing Arts (SACOPA), held at Rustenburg Civic Centre in September 2024. After advancing through the provincial qualifiers, two standout learners, Luyanda Sithole and Chenxi Guo, took on national competitors, guided by Head of Culture Helenor Esterhuizen.

 

 

Luyanda earned two silver medals and a bronze in her categories, impressing both judges and audience during this rigorous four-day competition. Chenxi achieved a remarkable success, bringing home a bronze, silver, and prestigious gold medal – qualifying her for the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles next year.

 

 

This achievement highlights the inspiration of the learners and Curro Vanderbijlpark’s thriving culture programme, as well as setting the stage for international representation.

With dedication and support from teachers and parents, Luyanda and Chenxi are now preparing for their future in the performing arts, carrying Curro Vanderbijlpark's spirit to new heights.
